Green public procurement with a Glance at EU Regulations

Due to the increase in consumption of goods by governments and the resulting environmental problems, one of the issues raised about how to provide goods and services in the public sector is green public procurement. Green public procurement are the process of providing goods and services according to criteria to reduce the harmful effects on the environment and is one of the important tools of governments for a better environment. Green public procurement are a strong driver for environmental innovation. These procurement are based on sound decision-making using environmental impact mitigation measures in the consumption of governments' financial resources for an important tool to achieve the goals of environmental protection policies. The European :union: has issued a number of guidelines and directives on green public procurement, and believes that green public procurement are a tool to reduce the harmful effects of governments, businesses and citizens on the environment and play a key role in the efficiency of economic resources. In this study, while explaining the concept of green public procurement, its objectives and regulations are examined from the perspective of the European :union:.
