Clarity in the budget of natural resources and watershed management is a solution to deal with desertification
ABBAS SAHRANAVARD * , HAMID AHANI
Abstract:   (26 Views)
Desertification is one of the most important challenges faced by many countries, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. In Iran, climate change, mismanagement of natural resources and insufficient attention to desertification measures have led to the aggravation of this problem. In this regard, clarifying the budget of natural resources and its correct formulation and implementation can play a significant role in managing and dealing with desertification. The regulatory body, as an institution that supervises the consumption of public financial resources, can assume important duties in this field. One of the consequences of climate change is fine dust, which is one of the main causes of air pollution in arid and semi-arid provinces of Iran. The functions and performance of management in natural resources also include planning, human resources, controlling, organizing and supervision. The area of about 2,904,3613 hectares of Iran has vegetation cover below 5%. Currently, about 17% of the total area of Iran's deserts is located in the eastern province of the country, such as Razavi Khorasan province. Soil and watershed protection programs, protection, restoration, and sustainable exploitation of forests and pastures, and desertification and restoration of destroyed areas, along with the carbon sequestration project and cooperative management, are one of the solutions to reduce harvesting in critical areas. A lot of dust is generated inside Turkmenistan in the Karakum Desert and the east of the Caspian Sea, which is transferred to the Khorasan Razavi Province for case studies due to weather systems. A financial supervisor, by closely monitoring resource consumption and effectively evaluating projects, can help ensure that financial resources are used properly. Ultimately, this transparency can lead to enhanced public trust and improved management of natural resources in the country, which is one of the most essential needs for combating desertification crises.
